Youbiquity Director Takes on the Brighton Half Marathon for Local Charity

We are delighted to announce that our Director, Nick Martin, will be running the Brighton Half Marathon in February 2020 to raise money for Jamie’s Farm!

We were first introduced to Natalia Borg, Fundraising Manager at Jamie’s Farm, during a networking event run by the Brighton Chamber of Commerce in November. When Natalia explained how and why the Sussex based charity operates, we quickly realised the importance of the work carried out by the Jamie’s Farm organisation and was keen to find out more.

Natalia kindly offered to arrange a tour of the East Sussex site, which is based just outside of Lewes.

Taking a tour of Jamie’s Farm

By visiting the farm and given a guided tour to see first hand exactly how the organisation works, we were able to understand why the charity is so successful.

Natalia explained how Jamie’s Farm is a preventative solution to one of the most serious problems affecting vulnerable young people and society today: social and academic exclusion. The support provided is specifically for 11-16 year olds from economically deprived backgrounds, and is targeted to those struggling with poor behaviour, a lack of engagement at school, low mental wellbeing and self-esteem, and undeveloped life skills; all are intrinsically linked to the root causes of exclusion. Jamie’s Farm acts as a catalyst for change by empowering young people to change course, and equipping teachers in their practice with them.

Jamie’s Farm uniquely combines Farming, Family and Therapy into a five-day residential. From day one, all sugary snacks and mobile phones are handed in to ensure there is distance from distractions at home.

In small groups of 10-12, children live and work on their farms accompanied by 2-3 teachers, supported by their experienced staff who focus activities on positive and tangible outcomes punctuated with therapeutic sessions.

If you are interested in finding out more about the charity, we highly recommend contacting the team and visiting the farm.

Running the Brighton Half Marathon on behalf of Jamie’s Farm

To help raise money for Jamie’s Farm our Director, Nick Martin, has signed up to run the Brighton Half Marathon on 23rd February 2020.

When asked about the run, Nick commented:

“I am very pleased to be running for such a great cause. The work that the Jamie’s Farm team do for young people is truly inspiring and the opportunity to help fundraise on their behalf was a no brainer!

If anyone is able to make a donation to this worthy cause it would be so very gratefully received by the charity.”

Nick has a JustGiving page set up to help raise funds for the event which you can find here.

We will be covering our fundraising efforts on our social feeds – Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. We would be very grateful for any support received.
